British Masters 2018
Today I watched some the world’s best players at Walton Heath Golf Club in Surrey. Here are my top ten photos with commentary. British Masters 2018.
‘It’s not just the photo, but the emotion once captured.’
I took my £200 point and shoot Canon SX720 HS I bought in early summer out for the first time since I used it in Fort Worth.
I wanted to see if I could capture some clean shots like I always see on social media.
I had 25 contenders for the top 10. I whittled it down to 17 and now 10.
Some might not seem to mean much or show the best quality but might invoke the strongest emotion.
The top image is the prime one from the collection. It shows Justin Rose, Olympic Gold Medalist 2016 and Fedex Champion 2018 on the 11th green. He is hosting this tournament and getting a picture of him in front of the branding was an important capture.
These won’t be in any sort of order, just as I see fit.
My Dad standing in front of Justin Rose as he plays the 11th hole.
My Dad got me into golf over 10 years ago.
Going to the British Masters was a part of his birthday present back in June.
He loves to watch Justin Rose on TV, so it was a perfect capture to get him in front of Justin.
He rarely smiles, so this photo means a lot.
Francesco Molinari walking up to the green on the 16th hole.
The Open Champion won all his matches in the 2018 Ryder Cup and is somewhat of a European legend.
Shortly after he finished, he hi-fived my Dad and I.
Frankie didn’t disappoint.
Tommy Fleetwood strolling down the 13th hole.
Not sure how Francesco will feel with all these people looking enticingly at Tommy.
Tommy and Francesco went unbeaten in their four pairs matches during the Ryder Cup in late September.
Tommy is the reigning Race to Dubai champion and is in hot pursuit to defend it.
Matthew Southgate ready for impact.
This image is cool because it shows the lag created by Matthew in order to compress the golf ball and hit it pure.
Playing alongside Matthew Southgate was Stephen Gallacher.
Stephen played in 2014 Ryder Cup at Gleneagles in Scotland.
The Scottish born golfer makes solid contact taking ball before divot.
Shane Lowry won the WGC at Firestone some years ago and won the Irish Open in 2009 as an amateur.
The Irish man will look to be in good form ahead of next year’s Open Championship at Royal Portrush.
This is his approach to the 16th hole, he looks at it invitingly before holing the putt for an easy birdie.
Another picture of Tommy Fleetwood. This time teeing off in front of a sea full of phones.
This is a cool picture because it gets in his caddie Fino.
Integral to his success over the years, this is a great picture that shows the thought of his caddie.
Also who knew that Tommy uses green tees.
Zander Lombard is one of many South African talents playing this week.
He has such a powerful swing and extends through the ball.
This image I like especially because it gets Andrew ‘Beef’ Johnston in the background.
The Arbys sponsored Brit has been known for his honesty and realness and true grit.
Beef won the Spanish Open at some point which boosted his career.
Paul Dunne in the thick rough near the fan zone.
He isn’t too impressed by the lie but plays a fantastic shot a few frames after this shot.
To end out the show, this articulates the nature of the day.
A family-friendly day out with a girl unaware of the situation and happily eating her ice cream.
Something to lighten the mood as these players fight to pay their bills with a small white ball and heathland.
That’s it.
Might do something like this again.
It was fun.
Final round of the British Masters is tomorrow.
Who will take the crown?
