Connection

There’s something quite magical about meeting someone new.

Whether you had conversations with them beforehand or not, it’s always interesting.

Why?

Well… it’s because everyone has something to give.

Something they want to say.

Something to share.

It may sound cliche, but can definitely learn from everyone you meet.

You see, you’re a product of the people you meet.

Their experiences and worldview becomes a part of you.

For better or for worse, you become part of that community.

Even if it’s a community of two.

I’ll tell you something else about connection.

You’ll know if you’re flunking out.

Because you’re trying to be more than yourself.

You do you.

If that person is not impressed, it’s likely that you being someone who you think they want to speak to won’t impress them either.

The quirks of the human spirit are quite tantalising.

It’s unprecedented, unpredictable and exciting.

Even the most introverted have something to share.

My goal with every conversation:

‘Find out the thing that makes that person interesting’.

And if I can do that, I’d call it a success.

I had that today and I’m grateful for new experiences too.

There’s something quite anxiety-wrenching about the new.

But meeting new people will always be like that.

Be you — you do you.
