Getting Some Sun

It’s hard to get me outdoors unless it’s for university or golf. If I have a lot on my plate, I’d rather burnout trying, but today I got some sun thanks to Mum.

‘Take a break, have a Kit Kat’ — Mum laughs as copies Kit Kat’s phrase

It wasn’t a Kit Kat rather a brunch spot.

Or linner or lea.

Whatever.

It was after lunchtime and before dinner/tea.

It got me out.

The monotony of dissertation transcribing and graduate scheme applications on the weekends seem to enslave me indoors.

But it was a perfect day for a spot of outdoor exploration.

My Mum has been getting very creative recently, whether that be artistic or baking-wise.

Can see the joy on her face when she bakes a new cake or comes home with flower arranging.

While I know she’d like to do something which is more meaningful, she is keeping busy and in our family that is a must.

She notices, as I’m sure a lot of people do, my obsession with work and commitment to quality and dedication to completion.

It’s something that overtakes my weekends, especially when the weather is awful.

But it leads to mental fatigue, constant screen time is only detrimental.

Instead of watching fluttering trees on YouTube Vlogs, it was time to enjoy the community gardens at Hall Place.

I only have had interaction with Hall Place in three ways from living memory.

The first was to get picked up my the school coach for school trips.

The second was to eat at the Miller & Carter restaurant.

And the third was when two kids from my school couldn’t find work experience placements in Year 10 and became gardeners at Hall Place for two weeks.

The last of that trio leads my Mum and I to our exploratory mission today.

After a failed attempt to park near or in Danson Park we went more intimate and quiet at Hall Place.

There is an array of gardens and plant-life that lives there.

There is a greenhouse which looks like a mini-version of what Kew Gardens has and a bird watching porch.

There are also these bush sculptures that are mythical creatures.

I thought one was a dog when it was a lion.

Another was a griffin but looked like a rubber duck.

Quite fascinating.

There is no purpose to this blog apart from sharing what I saw.

Sometimes there isn’t a purpose to sharing.

Sharing because it makes you appreciate.

Not because it further your ambition or agenda.

It was cool to take a break.

I still need my Kit Kat.

I’ll ask Mum for that don’t you worry.
