ICWTT: I Can’t Wait To Travel
Travelling requires capital, I loved to travel the USA while I was there and can’t wait to travel for greater purposes in the future.
Everyday, I will attempt to create a professional, articulate, hilarious and modern take on my day of thought or action. Inspired by Casey Neistat who created a vlog everyday for 450 straight days. I will call it: 365MeThoughts
To find the acronyms that are at the top, go to my Instagram page everyday and see what the images are and see if you can figure it out…
The USA really helped to open my reach on what is possible whilst travelling. Today, I met some American study abroad students who have the bug for travelling and can’t wait to visit continental Europe. In that same spirit, the photo above is from Rome during our ‘Italy Tour’ in July 2017.
I really enjoy travelling. I mostly like to explore on my own or with like-minded individuals. Ollie is one of those people. We did two holidays last summer, one turned into a charity affair but we’re equally as enjoyable.
They say…
“Once you’ve got the taste (bug) for travelling, you’ll never stop nor be satisfied”
I think this is very true. For me, there is one limiting factor. Money. I’ve been fortunate to be raised in a household where things have been never too hard to source nor afford. Or that was the picture painted across my childhood, I’m sure life was a lot harder for my hard-working and diligent parents.
I live for the day where I can pay for flights easily or get paid to travel. I’ve managed to sneak my way into business class once. It was a 2 hour flight from Dubai to Karachi. Didn’t sleep, want to sleep on the reclining bed. Maybe a 2018 New Year’s resolution?
A few pictures of my travels in the States during my study abroad. My favourite place was Austin. I visited Los Angeles, New York, Houston and Dallas/ Fort Worth (and New Orleans with my parents) but honestly, Austin is so special. It is the capital of the Lone Star state and has a very Californian lifestyle.
I think the purpose of today’s post is really to exemplify the choices I made and the appreciation I now have for travel and culture. All these places I went to, I travelled alone and stayed with family or friends during my trip. I was as open as possible during my travels and it benefited me in the long run.
On my flight home from Los Angeles, the girl sitting next to me actually also went to UT Austin and offered to drive me to my apartment after I told her how much I spent on Uber in LA. It was a lot. I wish I could’ve driven in the USA before my parents arrived.
Over the last few days, I’ve been binge eating American sour skittles (if you know me, that was literally my life) and missing my second home. Whilst I’m proud to back in London, I will always reminisce on my study abroad experiences. The transition has been hard and it will only get easier but for now, I have a lot of thinking to do.
I yearn for the day I can travel for free, travel the world and explore new sights and attractions. My career path is lending me towards such a lifestyle and it motivates me so much to get to that point as efficiently as possible.
I guess like they also say…
“The best things come to those who wait”
