Making Golf Look Interesting
It’s hard for the onlooker to see golf as interesting. It’s a battle of the mind, like chess. But it is a game like no other. Making golf look interesting.
‘Golf is a boring, old man’s sport. But I love Tiger Woods. Hmm’
I quite enjoyed making that short movie for the competition.
So I made a short film about golf.
Check it out here:
I managed to get out for a few holes today.
Although darkness was descending, it was good to get out and play some golf.
I do miss playing regular golf, but I appreciate it now more than I did before.
Although playing those eight holes today was brilliant, I knew when I returned home that I had a pile of work to do.
I don’t mind the work.
I just need to tone down the perfectionist in me.
Writing for a purpose is hard.
But writing on here is easy.
It makes sense.
I care equally about them, but I’m more worried about the judgement of others on the former.
Dissertation.
The word that warrants cries and wails.
I do hate being curled up indoors.
Golf is a relaxing remedy for me.
It shows me that I’m good at something and no-one is critiquing me.
It’s just me and the course.
I write about golf infrequently because I play it that much nowadays.
If I had this blog four years ago, it would be golf all day every day.
There is no gain.
Just fresh air and bad golf shots.
It gets me to be disciplined.
If I miss putt, I’ll do it over with the right discipline.
For the next few shots, I’ll have that discipline again before slipping back into bad habits.
It’s the classic to and fro that I love.
I know the course, I’ve played it for 11 years but now I just accept its taunts.
Knowing that my day nor my income relies on making those putts.
There’s always a part of me that wanted to take it more seriously.
But I didn’t think I was good enough.
Compared to my peers, I was (and still am) the short-hitter that if his short game was on point, would win every single time.
It was a flukey system but worked haphazardly for all those years.
Maybe next year, I’ll pick the sticks up more regularly, but for now.
I’ll continue to go to the golf course and try and make golf look interesting.
