Hey all! Hope you’ve had a good week off for the most of you, I’ve definitely enjoyed my week and I hope to remember all that occurred because I think you’ll enjoy what I have to share.

First things first, my parents decided to jet off to Malta this week. So, I’ve had the house to myself and haven’t made any trips to university while they’ve been away. The freedom of the house was perfectly adequate to serve my purposes of floundering around convincing myself that I was doing revision. I did actually do some this week. Just took a while to actually take some considerable form. Found many a distraction, that did well distracting me.

Also on a side note, thank you for the great support on the article I wrote Friday night, hope it helped some of you and those who knew where I was coming from with the golf anecdote, I’m sure there will be many more of those conversations in the future to rip our teeth into…

Please brain, for once do your job and remember things. Have a good feeling about this week… just this once… and for my exams… I beg!

Monday:

The only day I decided to venture into university. Can’t tell you what my aim was exactly, because I didn’t get much done.

All I managed to achieve was meeting up with a friend I’ve known for over 10 years and now goes to the same university as me. Long friendship (maybe a bit too long… I’m kidding).

Also saw some people on my course struggling their way through the upcoming assignment, it was pretty tough and we were all glad to see the back of it. After annoying some people and making jokes with some friends I made on the Liverpool trip, I actually completed some work. Not much but some. Good learning experience of my capabilities on officially my first day of revision.

Tuesday:

This was the day my parents decided to leave me. Early start to fuel up the car and get all the crap in the boot of the car out. The monthly water bottle clearance gathered 5 Buxton bottles and 4 Evian bottles with a handful of Yorkie chocolate bar wrappers. Pretty empty boot as far as I’m concerned, didn’t have to call on the black sack.

Now a lazy drive to Gatwick, both parents commenting on my awkward gear changes. Not understanding the struggles of a 14-year old Polo. It needs a bit of tough love to get moving. After waving them goodbye, I headed home.

I didn’t do any revision today, all I did was finish an assignment linked to that presentation I did in that week where I had the mock too. Can’t remember the name of the blog although I told someone about it on Monday. This assignment was all about moaning and after heading the 500 word limit on the nail, first try round; I decided that it was enough for one day.

Wednesday:

Apart from being called in 2.5 hours earlier to work, I had a good day. I was very tired though. Very tired indeed.

Stayed up past 3am in the morning talking to my best friend who is scaling up the East Coast of Australia, enjoying all the experiences Aussie has to offer.

I still did a reading or two, can’t quite remember but I was too tired to care and fell asleep easily.

Oh wait… while thinking about what I had for dinner that night (it was a healthy Maccie’s) I remembered that I met up with two friends I hadn’t seen in a little while. They came round my house because I was too tired to do anything else and I served them a 7Up and a Coca-Cola each in a tall glass with a pink straw. Think they were both fairly satisfied. After chatter became yawns, I waved them goodbye and then fell asleep, I can assure you.

Thursday:

This is where the week becomes a bit more eventful…

I decided to have a productive day of revision, after a long 2.5 hour conversation in the morning with the best friend again, completely unexpected and unplanned conversation, but a good one nonetheless.

I had promised my aunt that I would attend their house for a nice Pakistani dinner, my favourite dish; qeema was on the menu and I couldn’t refuse. I didn’t feel like driving for some reason, so I took my laptop and my satchel bag and went on the train from Albany Park to Lewisham. Although I did complete a reading, it wasn’t worth the trouble as I will explain in a moment.

When I arrived at the front door of the gated community, I punched the code that my aunt had given me, I strode to the front door of the house. I knocked on the door. No answer. Thought they must be praying. It was bang on 8pm, when I said I would be there. They knew I was coming. Pressed the bell and waited intently. I heard quite murmurs on the staircase but couldn’t quite make out the voice. Then…

A man opens the door. Not my uncle and definitely not my aunt. I had no recollection of who it could be. They told me to come in and sit down. Then they said they’ll be back in a minute. I could only describe this encounter as what I’ve seen on TV Dramas as a FBI interrogation where they pull up in their black SUV and ask if you are who you know you are and say “we’re with the FBI, we’d like to ask you some question if you don’t mind coming with us”, like you even had a choice then to sit down in the SUV. That’s what it was like. Except it wasn’t the streets of New York, it was my aunt’s house in Lewisham. As I entered the house, I remember checking the house number to check I had the right address. I did.

I sat down and the man asked me if I knew who they were. No…

Then they gave me some clues, confusing me with the family tree. At least not a complete stranger. My aunt comes downstairs and I exhale a sigh of relief, I know I’m in the right place.

After further deliberations, they gave up with the charade and the man finally revealed their name. I did know who they were, although I hadn’t seen them for the last 10–15 years. Given I’m turning 20 this year, my bewilderment was granted.

Further to a scrumptious dinner and even better conversation, I decided to leave and I walked back to the station. When I got there after 15 minute walk, I found out that my train was cancelled and the next one wasn’t due for another 30 minutes. Given I was 15 minutes from home by car, I called an Uber.

An E-Class Merc turned up and I was taken home in-style. Arriving 5 minutes before that train even reached Lewisham. Unfortunately it cost by £16 to get home. Something I could’ve completely avoided, had I driven. I know for next time.

Friday:

Another day at home just revising. Decided to unlock the door at 8:30 and go get some food on a nice 40 minute walk round Sidcup. Was nice to get out the house, despite enjoying the day comfortable within my own limits.

Saturday:

Had a strange awakening on Saturday.

I was deep in a dream (couldn’t tell you what the dream was about) and I heard the doorbell ring. In my head, I had managed to convince myself that the doorbell was in my dream. Turns out it was in reality. Then I chuckled to myself thinking that someone in the house had to answer it. One thing led to another, brain decided to wake up and I realised I was the only one in the house.

After unlocking the door, it was the window cleaner, after money which I claimed not to have. After moving my mum’s car off the drive, so that they could get to the top window. I felt rather sluggish and I had to pick up my friend so that I could take him to work.

That was basically it. Well apart from the fact, I made Mac n’ Cheese with Tuna for dinner. Yep… fun life.

Sunday:

I was looking forward to today all week long. Playing at Cobtree Park Manor Golf Course today with a very good friend. The golf was comical and the the buggy was as slow as my Polo going up a slip road to a motorway. The company was great and the weather decided to show summer colours, clear blue skies and temperatures soaring way into the twenties. Perfect day.

Now I’m here watching the Masters, taking double the time to write this blog.

Think I’ll end there and watch the final three holes with a glass of orange juice and watch this shootout between Garcia and Rose unfold.

Till next week

I’m out
